Since March 27, 2019 Grimaud has appointed a Commune's data protection officer to the CNIL. The Commune has thus brought itself into compliance with the new data protection regulations one year after the entry into force of the data protection regulation dating from March 25, 2018
( Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ( (GDPR) General Data Protection Regulation). The European Data Protection Regulation is applicable in all member states to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe. This regulation was followed by a law n°2018-493 on June 20 2018 linked to national data protection. Grimaud is one of the first municipalities still in the minority at the present time on the national level to have already integrated all the measures of this European regulation which includes 54 references to national law. Binding for the procedures, actions and missions of the community, this regulation ensures citizens the constant implementation of protection of their personal and sensitive data. This protection has also been carried out within the local authority for a quality and continuous improvement approach of his various services. The municipality is aware that any access, modification or disappearance of personal data can have serious consequences, henceforth punishable by sanctions applicable to local authorities consequently she preferred to take the full measure of this legislation. Raising the awareness and training of its staff, bringing its procedures up to standard, updating its processing register as well as carrying out data protection audits are substantive and formal work carried out since the application of this regulations in France. The good governance of data and the management of the town in an approach to protect personal data has become a priority since the entry into force of this regulation.
